Select writing
Most of my writing over the last decade was targeted at decision makers, taking the form of briefs, presentations, and memo not intended for public consumption.
I’ve also lent my pen extensively to documentation efforts in Myanmar, the outcome of which shall remain anonymized for the security of all involved.
Campaigns
Besides contributing detailed documentation and advocacy outputs around key tech accountability issues, I’ve also led various advocacy campaigns, most notably:
#DearMark
In April 2018, I led Myanmar civil society’s effort to call out Mark Zuckerberg for his lies regarding Facebook’s approach to detection and risk mitigation in Myanmar. The letter was echoed by letters from Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, and led to an apology from Mark Zuckerberg and a grilling from Senator Leahy during Mark’s first US senate hearing.
#PushBackUNESCO
In May 2023, I coordinated a push back from Asian civil society on the UNESCO Guidelines for The Governance Of Digital Platforms, which was echoed by civil society across the world and fueled additional (though still insufficient) refinements to the Guidelines.
